SRES Announces New IEC 61508 Training and First Physical AI Safety Week

SecuRESafe (SRES) is launching a new three-day IEC 61508 Functional Safety Training course, offered in partnership with SGS-TÜV Saar. The course gives engineers and technical leaders a practical understanding of IEC 61508 and its application to safety-critical electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic systems, including Physical AI.

This new course reflects SRES’s continued expansion of its Physical AI safety services and training portfolio, connecting established functional safety practices with the needs of autonomous and AI-enabled products, including humanoid robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), automated guided vehicles (AGVs), legged and wheeled robots, industrial automation, service robots, and surgical robotics.

Why Attend?

  • Understand the complete IEC 61508 functional safety lifecycle

  • Apply hazard and risk analysis to safety-critical products and Physical AI systems

  • Develop and allocate functional safety requirements

  • Understand systematic capability, hardware safety analysis, and software development requirements

  • Explore FMEDA, common-cause failure, integration, testing, and supporting processes

  • Learn from SRES instructors who apply functional safety in active product-development programs

  • Pursue an optional SGS-TÜV Saar IFSP certificate after completing the course

Introducing SRES Physical AI Safety Week

The first public session of the new IEC 61508 course will anchor the inaugural SRES Physical AI Safety Week, taking place virtually from September 14–18, 2026.

September 14–16: IEC 61508 Functional Safety Training
September 17–18: ISO/IEC TS 22440 Functional Safety and AI Systems Training

The two courses provide a connected learning path for professionals working with safety-critical Physical AI. IEC 61508 establishes the foundational principles and lifecycle requirements for functional safety, while ISO/IEC TS 22440 addresses the emerging challenges introduced by AI-based and data-dependent system behavior.

Participants may register for either course independently or attend both courses for a comprehensive understanding of functional safety and AI safety.

Who These Trainings Are For

Physical AI Safety Week is intended for engineers, managers, and technical leaders involved in:

  • Functional safety, systems, hardware, and software engineering

  • Autonomous robotics, AMRs, AGVs, industrial automation, and other Physical AI applications

  • Safety-critical product development and integration

  • Functional safety management, compliance, quality, and technical oversight

  • Organizational readiness for safe and responsible Physical AI deployment

SRES Safety Expertise

SRES brings extensive engineering, consulting, training, auditing, and assessment experience working with technology companies, OEMs, suppliers, semiconductor companies, autonomy developers, and other organizations developing safety-critical products. Areas of expertise include systems and hazard analysis, safety concepts, hardware and software safety, FMEA, FMEDA, fault tree analysis, and safety assurance for complex interconnected products.

SRES experts hold professional qualifications in automotive functional safety, SOTIF, AI safety, cybersecurity, and functional safety training. Their standards experience includes IEC 61508, ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO 8800, and ISO/IEC 22440, as well as numerous other safety and AI frameworks.

This combination of established functional safety expertise and experience with autonomous and AI-enabled systems uniquely positions SRES to address the evolving safety challenges of Physical AI. As advanced robots move beyond controlled environments and into increasingly dynamic industrial, commercial, and home applications, organizations must connect proven safety lifecycle and assurance methods with the new challenges introduced by adaptive, data-dependent behavior. SRES brings these disciplines together to help organizations evaluate, develop, validate, and deploy Physical AI systems safely and responsibly.

Register for Physical AI Safety Week

Join SRES virtually from September 14–18, 2026, for either individual course or the complete Physical AI Safety Week program.

Private group training is also available upon request virtually or in person.
